I am accepting reasonable offers to purchase my newly built Ducati Pantah 650 Racer project that I am very proud of as it started as an image of a racer that we saw in Florence "Firense" Italy. This project is a speciality build and I have a photo album on my Scot P. Wilson Facebook page that shows the progress of this build. Additionally there are Blog Posts that I have written on this build as well that can be found on our site. The frame and engine came from the inventory that I purchased from Jan and Toine Biggelaar in The Netherlands.
The 650 engine in particular, DM650L*610074* was raced as it had a number of external oil lines attached but in very good condition. This engine has been fully rebuilt from the crank up. With some speciality bits from Glynn at Sports Motorcycles in New Zealand, we took a modern 6 speed gearbox and got it to work in our 650 cases. Thanks to Malcolme Tunstall at Syd's Cycles for rebuilding, magna-fluxing and balancing the crank as well as for providing a nice set of race pistons for our engine. 2:1 Stainless Exhaust came out of our inventory from Two Wheel Classics-UK as we are their US based dealer. 36 mm DelOrto carbs rebuilt as well.
Our Pantah frame is a street frame, 600SL/A*702446*, however, it has been modified to take a mono-shock set-up using a F1/TT2 swingarm. Additionally, we have welded additional gussets before powder-coating to stiffen up the frame. The front fairing is an original item for a 500 Pantah whereas the new Pantah Racer Tank and Seat base came from our Two Wheel Classics-UK inventory.
We made our own wiring loom for this project and added upgraded items such as Dyna coils and other electrical components to work with a SpeedHut Dual Tach and GPS driven Speedometer Gauge. Battery is a lithium Shorai unit that we have mounted under the seatbase. We did make wiring for turn signals but as the state of Arizona does not require turn signals, we elected to make this bike streamlined and minimalistic as a racer should be.
The front suspension and magnesium front 3 Spoke 17" Honda wheel came off of an Alazzurra racer that I had purchased which used 45 mm Showa suspension and with 4 pot Nissin brakes. Without needing a speedo drive, we were able to rebuild the front end and everything bolted together very nicely. Rear wheel is a 18" EPM magnesium wheel made in Italy and came from this same racer. Thanks to former professional racers, Tom Hull and Malcolme Tunstall for making good tire recommendations for this set-up.
This bike is a blast to ride and I am only selling it because we have 4 more builds to include our TT 1000 and TT 1 in the works. Please feel free to contact me at intaliairon@msn.com with questions as I am open to all reasonable offers as this is a very special build with many trick bits too numerous to mention. Many more photos available upon request.
