For purchase is a 1996 Ducati 900SS/SP serial# B010 that we are listing for a customer. His description is below:
Purchased from a private party in Scottsdale Arizona in March of 2001 with 5,411 miles. This bike was initially sold by Dave’s Cycle in Mesa Ariz, a small family owned and sole Ducati dealer in Phoenix on December, 1995. Tom Hull, son of David Hull (owner of Dave’s Cycle) has historical records of the family business selling this motorcycle new (vin#ZDM1LC4NXTB022443 / SP serial# B10).
During my ownership, this bike has been serviced exclusively by two Ducati master mechanics, Tom Hull the owner of Toms Italian Tune and Service in Mesa (son of Dave Hull) or by Steve Spreter, owner of Renaissance Motors in Tucson Arizona. All service records are available.
The last valve service was performed by Steve Spreter in Tucson in 7/30/2011 (at 21,226 miles)
Recent service was performs by Tom Hull in Mesa in 3/12/2020 (at 25,209 miles) where the front fork seals were replaced, new timing belts installed and the carburetors were cleaned and adjusted.
Note that the cylinder heads have not been removed or have the engine case been opened on this vin# matching motor.
Updates added:
*Corbin seat and Forza carbon fiber exhaust installed at time of original dealer sale in ‘95
*Euro headlight switch added.
* Moto Lites mounted on fork sliders.
*Ohlin rear shock installed. I have the original rear shock in storage.
*Nichols engine breather and Engine mounting bolts installed.
*CycleCat clip-ons installed.
*CRG adjustable levers installed.
*CRG Bar-end mirrors added. I have the original mirrors in storage.
*Billet dual-seal clutch slave cylinder installed.
*Barnett aluminum clutch basket (replacing factory steel) installed. I have the original basket in storage.
*Forged aluminum Marchensini 5-spoke rims installed, replacing original cast Brembo 3-spoke (8.5 lb weight reduction) procured from a 2002 Ducati ST4S. I have the original wheels in storage.
*Front fork from a 2002 ST4S replaced the original Shoei fork. Low-friction DLC (gold-tint) coating is benefit of using this fork and allows retention of original factory triple tree with SS-SP serial plate. I do not have the original fork assembly.
*Custom speed compensator added to correct speed reading. Gear driven compensator case is the size of a match-stick box, and mounted directly below the speedometer head.
*Second oil cooler, claimed from a Ducati 900SS CR as been added to allow additional oil cooling. This CR cooler is the higher mounted oil cooler, as the SP carried its cooler in the lower position (view engine photos for placements).
* Rimoza stone guard added to lower oil cooler.
*The original engine timing belt covers have been slotted by a local machinist to allow for added belt cooling and inspection.
