Ducati Bevel Drive, Pantah and Norton Commando Engine Cases

Posted by Scot Wilson on Sep 14th 2020

At Italianiron/BritIron we are making a real concerted effort to thoroughly go through our inventory and to make available our vintage motorcycle bits that have been so long on the shelves or in boxes since my initial sea container arrived in 2010. The "silver lining" of the Covid pandemic is that I have been able to go more thoroughly through these items in an effort to get more organized and to make available for that restorer, "sought-after" bits for their vintage Ducati Bevel DrivePantah, Paso, and Supersport and a recently added inventory of OEM Norton Commando items. At this point, I am embarrassed to say that I still need to inventory and to list nearly 60% of what I have available in the shop. In addition to numerous Desmo and springer heads and barrels for Bevel Drive Ducati's, we have 9 sets of early "square case" engine cases to include those that take the Bosch ignition.

In addition to a very comprehensive portfolio of Ducati bevel drive engine cases, we are also processing transmission gears and complete bevel drive gear sets as well. Additionally, I also have 50 engine cranks for square case engines that are available. Rob from RPM Vapor Honing and I are having a great time going through the inventory of Ducati and Norton bits and getting it all vapor-blasted. This will obviously take some time but this effort is worth it. This Vapor Blasting technology does an amazing job of bringing the luster back to these 40 to 50 year old vintage motorcycle bits. However, if there is something that are you in need of for your Ducati racer or restoration project or for other Italian marques, please contact me through the Italianiron.com website or email me at italianiron@msn.com

Listed above are the numerous Ducati Bevel Drive "Square Case" engine cases that I have in addition to a mechanically complete 860 engine. I only have Vapor Blasted engine cases that are structurally and cosmetically sound. As I have been fortunate to restore numerous Ducati Bevel Drives over the past 3 decades, I do have a sense as to what is involved in using OEM items in good condition to create a successful restoration. However, these amazing machines are definitely worth the effort!!  As always, I am happy to send as many photos as you require in order that we can be most assured of addressing the needs of your particular build or restoration project.

Due to our focus on the TT racers using Ducati 2 and 3 valve Belt Driven engines and in addition to our working relationship with Molnar Precision LTD who is the new owner of what was Two Wheel Classics, we remain committed to serving these early and later Belt Driven Ducatis in conjunction with Bevel Driven Ducati  Twins and Singles. As such, we can offer a total of 10 Ducati engines  that is comprised primarily of 650 cc Pantah engines in addition to three smaller capacity Pantah 350 cc engines for your race or restoration projects. These Pantah engines are complete, however, we also have one set of DM 600 L engine cases as well as three smaller capacity DM 350 L engine cases. We do offer Pantah engine barrels and can now offer Pantah rear cylinder heads for the 800 cc, 750 cc and 500 cc Pantah engines where the carburetor is mounted to the rear of each cylinder as shown on the link below.

Also shown below is one of our newly Vapor Blasted Pantah 350 cc engine cases. These vintage Ducati Pantah engine cases really "come to life" after a good cleaning. I also have Pantah 650 and 350 engines still in the EU for those customers who live on the Continent. Contact me and we can arrange shipping from northern Europe. Additionally, I also have Ducati 944 Supersport race engines in addition to complete 750 Paso engines. This is also in addition to engine cases, heads and barrels for 900 and 750 Desmo engines as well as a very complete inventory of heads and barrels for the Ducati 999 to 916 Superbike engines. Let us "Fuel Your Race Passions of the Ducatisti!!"

Thank you to the Norton Commando, Dominator and Atlas community for supporting our efforts and for your recent sales. We would be remiss if we did not also include a recently vapor-blasted set of Norton Commando engine cases as we have several sets that are in good overall condition. We have Norton Commando engine cases with or without a crank shaft assembly. Whereas we are now sold-out of our entire inventory of 850 Norton Commando engine heads, we do have both 750 Commando heads and barrels available in addition to our Norton 750 Atlas engine heads. We also have a complete Norton 750 Atlas engine in stock for those who wish to have a cool engine for cool project. As discussed in my last blog post from 28 Aug 20, we now able to offer 6 different aluminum fuel tanks for Norton Commandos, Norvil, Manx, and LYTA "Sprint" specials.
