At Italianiron & Britiron Classics we are proud to acknowledge that we are "lost" in the past. I was reminded of that fact when I could not put down Pat Slinn's books on Mike Hailwood's Triumphant Return to IOM TT in 1978 and Mike Hailwood's return to retain his personal IOM Formula 1 and World Formula 1 Championships in 1979. I especially enjoyed his third book about the Ducati 600 cc Pantah Insurance write-off that was built and developed into a Formula 2 Isle of Man TT winning racer. Shown above is the late, great Tony Rutter in front of the old Two Wheel Classics location in western England. Our efforts are due in no small part to the racing successes accomplished by Tony Rutter and Chief Engineer, Pat Slinn, and in addition to their contributions to the development of these Ducati TT and F1 racers. Further, we embrace the heritage of those early days of motor racing on two wheels as evidenced by the worldwide participation, enthusiasm and following of "vintage" motorcycle racing from the early Ducati bevel drive, Pantah, F1 or Manx and Norton Commando racers.
It has been said that at Italianiron & BritIron Classics, let us "Fuel Your Race Passions" is not just a slogan but a commitment, whether you are building a vintage TT racer for competition, a Ducati F1 vintage street bike or a classic Norton Commando racer. As a result, we are focused on and primarily committed to supporting the sport of Vintage Motorcycle Racing worldwide. Maintaining a quality offering is our most important goal. Our race spec items are race tested for quality and assurance of structural integrity, performance, for light weight and for reliability. We also strive to maintain a "race team mindset" where we preserve the core of the machine but work to enhance performance and safety through the advances in available modern technology. As a result, we are extremely excited to offer our TT bodywork kits in carbon fibre in addition to our glass fibre bodywork offerings. Shown below is our first order of the carbon fibre bodywork with red gelcoat on the exterior that is quite exceptional. Whereas the cost of the carbon fibre fairing set is 50% more than glass fibre, we believe that we can offset a good portion of that cost difference by minimizing painting costs. Due to the rich depth of the red gelcoat, only the TT 1 (or yellow striping for a TT 2) striping and/or number boards need to be painted on to the red to complete your racer's bodywork for competition or for the street. As we own the molds, we can also make other fairings and bodywork available for other models of racers in carbon fibre. Contact me at Italianiron7@gmail.com with your requirements.

Do know that we are specialists and offer high quality chrome-moly TT frames that are identical copies to the frames used by Tony Rutter as he allowed copies to be made. These TT frames are available in either 25 mm (8.4kg weight) for smaller 350 cc to 750 cc Ducati belt driven engines or 28 mm (8.7kg weight) for 750 cc to 1100 DS engines. The frame can be supplied without powder coating (raw), alternatively the frame can be powder coated black or red for an additional fee. Shown below is the TT 900 frame (28 mm tubing) that I powder coated and used on my TT 1k build. Also available and in stock is what we call the TT 900 Fuel Tank for use with modern 2 and 3 valve Ducati engines in the Paso style where the carburetors face each other between the cylinder heads. This fuel tank will fit all of our TT 2 and TT 900 frames. We also offer deep sump TT 2 fuel tanks in aluminum or glass fibre but please advise as to your application. We typically make these tanks for use with an aero fuel cap which we have in stock and offer for an extra cost. Additionally, we offer petcocks and tank mounting rubbers in our inventory. Please advise as to how we can best be of service. Let us Fuel Your Race Passions!!

Why is it natural to combine a discussion of the Ducati Pantah Formula 2 Isle of Man TT winning racer with the SmartCarb2 flat-slide? It was so interesting to discover when reading Pat Slinn's book on the 1981 Isle of Man Formula 2 TT winning racer that they were using the Lectron flat-slide carb that initially began the use of metering rod technology and created by American William "Red" Edmonston. After GM purchased Lectron in 1978, "Red" continued to refine the development of his flat slide design with new technology that ultimately became the SmartCarb. Therefore, our SC2 has the carburetion DNA from this original IOM TT winning racer. 2021 has been a stellar year with our providing our SmartCarb flat-slide carburetors to racers and specialty bike builders the world-over. In working in conjunction with the factory as dealers for the SmartCarb2's, we have collectively acquired a significant amount of knowledge on how best to provide the optimal set-up for these "technologically advanced" carbs for the different applications that our customers have made from vintage to modern 2 and 3 valve Ducati twin cylinder engines. It is my recommendation not to use old technology and what was used successfully in the past such as the Keihin FCR and Mikuni brands. They are fine companies and have had successful offerings in the past. However, neither company is offering new and advanced technology. If you wish to find 10% more HP, find 25% more fuel economy, find more time to enjoy your ride due to automatic altitude adjusting capability, and to find a means to contribute to lower CO2 emissions, then there is only one choice and that is the SmartCarb!!
