Italianiron & Britiron Classics - Vintage & Modern Wheel Offerings
Posted by Scot Wilson on Jan 15th 2021
At Italian Iron & BritIron Classics we pride ourselves on being able to offer good used OEM wheels for vintage and modern Ducati's like FPS, OSCAM, Brembo and Marchesini brands just to name a few. However thanks to our working relationship with TGA/Molnar Precision LTD in the UK, we are also able to offer speciality magnesium race wheels from Marvic. As our joint focus is on supporting the sport of vintage Motorcycle Racing internationally, we have had success using and now offering these specialty magnesium race wheels by adding our new Marvic product portfolio. Featured below are the Marvic Streamline magnesium wheels that are sold individually. These wheels are precisely what we and MPL Racing use on our Ducati TT 2 and TTF1 racers. Due to TGA/MPL's working relationship with Marvic, we can now offer a speciality 4.5” version of their 17" rear wheel to suit a 160 tire. The link below is for the rear Marvic wheel, however, we do offer both front and rear Streamline wheels for purchase. Please know that due to COVID that we are short-handed and will continue to list items like the Front wheels between orders as quickly as possible.

Newly available is the iconic 5 spoke Campagnolo magnesium wheels that Ducati Corse made famous in the early days of two wheel racing. Now these historically significant wheels are being manufactured and offered through Marvic. What I love about Marvic re-manufacturing these wheels is that they fit our philosophy of maintaining the design, style and function of the original items but with all of the enhancements from updated technological advances in the manufacturing process as well as advances in metallurgy! The original Campagnolo wheels were highly desired on the early Ducati Bevel Drive Supersport and early Ducati Pantah racers back in the day. These light and reliable Campagnolo wheels are gravity sand cast in magnesium alloy for a finished weight of 2.6 kg. We also offer a wide array of specialty brake rotors, axles, adjusters and sprockets to fulfill the custom "recipe" for your racer or street bike application. Various sizes available for this rear wheel are 3.50" x 18", 4.00" x 18" and 4.50" x 18". The link below is for the rear Marvic wheel.

To compliment our portfolio of new and used OEM wheels, we also offer OEM Ducati swingarms in steel or aluminum for the Ducati Supersports, Monsters, and Paso's as well as other Ducati models from our Italianiron.com inventory. We can also offer OEM swingarms for the now vintage Ducati 996/748 Superbikes from our inventory. As a result of our affiliation with TGA/Molnar Precison LTD, we offer a chrome-moly Verlicchi style tubular chrome-moly swingarm for our TT and Ducati F1 racers. In addition, we also offer a spectacular "box-section" swingarm for TT2's, TT F1, Ducati F1's racers and Ducati Supersports. These two swingarms are ultra light and are amazing pieces of "race kit" to compliment your custom racer or street bike project. Contact me at Italianiron7@gmail.com with any questions or if you require to provide me with your specific requirements for recommendations.

At Italian Iron Classics, LLC, we are fortunate to maintain over 60 OEM wheels in stock to include brands such as FPS, Brembo, OSCAM and Speedline wheels for our vintage Ducati bevel drives and Pantah's, Ducati F1's, and Cagiva Alazzurra's. At Italianiron, we have historically been focused on vintage racing Ducati and Norton motorcycles from the 1970's and up through the early 2000's as appropriate. As a result, we also offer OEM wheels for the modern Ducati Supersports and Monsters from the 1990's and 2000's. As I have had the good fortune to do some racing on both a Ducati 748 rs and a Ducati 996 in BOTT, Heavy Twins, and Formula 750, we like to be involved in offering bits for the Ducati 996/748 Superbike racers and street bikes. We do offer Marchesini wheels, for example, for these iconic racers and have been fortunate to be a source of early Ducati 916 Superbike bodywork, 3 spoke Ducati Racing Brembo wheels, and engine barrels to name a few!! These items move quickly but do stay in touch as I continue to get shipments from overseas fairly regularly. As always, if you do not see what you need, do feel free to contact me.

At Italianiron.com we have focused for decades on items for the vintage Ducati bevel drives until we discovered our passions for the historically significant Ducati belt driven TT racers, Pantahs and F1's. As such we do offer FPS, OSCAM, and Speedline wheels for vintage Ducati bevel drives and the early Pantah's. As a disclaimer, I do not recommend using the infamous Speedline wheels for use on the road much less the track as they have a deserved reputation for fracturing. Speedlines that we offer after powder-coating, in my opinion, are best used for trophy bikes or just for show. We do find that the FPS wheels are the most sought-after vintage wheels. At this point, I must report that I only have one complete set of FPS wheels remaining. However, I do have twelve complete FPS rear wheels. Feel free to contact me with your enquiry if you are seeking a particular wheel for a particular model of Ducati.

As we continue to enjoy getting immersed in the heritage of British Motorcycle Racing thanks to TGA/Molnar Precision LTD and their very successful brand, Molnar Manx, I would be remiss if I did not include the updated Fontana 250 front brake. The Fontana 250 brake was a work of genius and developed by Daniel Fontana for the works 500`s of the late `60`s. Our hubs are faithful replicas of the originals with the dramatic interrupted finning and central ventilation ducts. This piece of art has more stopping power than most disc brakes Molnar Racing has determined and is suitable for 500cc & 750cc classic racers, cafe racers and Tritons. This brake is cast in either aluminum or magnesium and machined on state-of-the-art CNC lathes. The shoes are always skimmed by our experts on a manual machine to suit the hub they will be fitted with, to ensure an exceptionally good brake right from the moment that you need to grab that front brake lever.

In addition to our product portfolio for TT and other Ducati racers, we are also excited to support enthusiasts for Norton Manx and Norton Commando racers through Molnar Manx and BritIron Classics Norton. Please understand that the prices for our TT, Ducati and Norton Commando aluminum fuel tanks as listed on my Italianiron.com website are not eligible to be discounted. The "Make An Offer" feature is currently unavailable as we are exploring another more sophisticated app for use on all of our used OEM Ducati and Norton items. Feel free to contact me through the website or through my new email address Italianiron7@mnsn.com to discuss any reasonable offer that you feel more affectively represents the value of that vintage item. As a result of our offerings, it is our hope to help you to become immersed in the history, the passion and the early technology of these amazing machines. Let us "Fuel Your Race Passions" to keep the sport of Vintage Motorcycle Racing alive and well!!
