Italianiron & Britiron Classics "Modern" Niches

Posted by Scot P Wilson on Oct 31st 2024

At Italianiron & BritIron Classics, let us "Fuel Your Race Passions" is not just a slogan but a commitment, whether you are building a vintage Ducati TT or Pantah racer for competition, a Ducati F1 vintage street bike or restoring a Norton Commando or Manx racer. We continue to offer a comprehensive, specialty portfolio of Ducati TT, Pantah, F1 as well as Molnar Manx and Norton Commando engine, chassis and bodywork kits to all of our customers worldwide. We continue to help racers and restorers with providing them with top quality racing spares and offering painting services when required due to our restoration expertise and build results. At Italianiron.com we are internationally well known for offering race quality spares for our vintage Ducati TT, F1, Pantah and Norton racers. In addition, we also continue to offer quality refurbished "more modern" OEM "vintage" bits for Ducati 999, 998, 996 and 748 Superbikes as well as Ducati 900 ss & Derivatives Supersports. If we cannot offer our customers NOS items that we often come upon, then our philosophy is to offer OEM items such as fuel tanks and other bodywork that is professionally refurbished to include repainting with OEM decals under the clear.

We prefer to offer not just good, used OEM items but refurbished OEM items as we have customers worldwide purchasing complete bodywork sets or sending us their items to be professionally refurbished. We will also take in trade your damaged items for credit against the price of our newly refurbished items. Shown above is part of a complete yellow OEM Ducati 999 Superbike fuel tank and bodywork set. Note that due to the size of the fairing panels, we could not get all of the other bodywork on to the protective blanket for the photo. However, we offer numerous Ducati 999 & 749 Superbike bits for purchase that we have professionally refurbished. We continue to source good used OEM items from our network of providers in the UK, EU as well as here in the US. We do not intend to compete with individuals selling their bits after they clear out their garages. We work hard to offer cost effective pricing for refurbished items. Please understand that there is a cost to source, ship, refurbish, repaint and add OEM decals under the clear. We used to have an in-house painter who had previously worked for the local Ducati dealer until he died recently and as such we are very confident that we have the proper codes to match our refurbished and repainted OEM bodywork bits to your particular machine.

After our long time painter passed away, we are now using the experts at Cycle Skins here in Tucson, Arizona who do an outstanding job for all of our specialty painting work. Their quality of workmanship and cost effectiveness allows us to continue to offer these refurbished items. We are fortunate to work with customers who do understand that there is an ever increasing cost of quality paint material and labor to ensure a superior job and bodywork worthy of mounting to your Ducati Superbike, Supersport, Pantah, Paso, TT racer or Ducati F1. We cannot forget to mention that we obviously offer our Ducati 999 & 749 Superbike bodywork in the glorious and often called "fire engine" Ducati red with OEM decals under the clear as shown above. Like the yellow Ducati 999 bits above, we could only get part of the complete set that could fit on to the protective blanket in the photos. It is helpful that the Ducati factory in Bologna still offers a large cross section of their OEM decals and make them available for purchase. However, they are very proud of their decals and as such, they are certainly not cheap. However, for our discerning customer base, we have chosen to only use OEM factory decals as the only credible way to provide the level of quality to our refurbishing and re-painting efforts in order to fulfill expectations.

It is unique to refer to a Ducati 998, 996, 916 and 748 Superbikes as "vintage" motorcycles. However it has been over 30 years since that first "Cagiva" Red Ducati 916 Superbike shocked the international world of motorcycling with its looks and performance. Arguably the world of performance sport motorcycles would never be the same!! As I had the pleasure to race a race-prepped Ducati 996 S and Ducati 748 RS, these famous motorcycles remain "near and dear to my heart" and a main focus of our offerings. As a result, we continue to acquire more OEM Superbike fuel tanks and bodywork sets in an effort to help owners of these quintessentially brilliant machines to keep them performing and looking their best on the track or on the road. In addition, know that we have had an Italianiron.com website presence for 3 decades now and we offer a secure platform for both domestic and international customers to purchase items safely and securely. Due to our extremely competitive, discounted shipping rates, we continue to make more than half of our sales with international customers. Please note that any photos that I do post of bits for different Ducati models in their respective sections on social media is only to drive the customers to the website. We will continue to use our Italianiron.com website exclusively to offer thousands of quality vintage motorcycle spares where payments can be made securely for our domestic and international customers.

Interestingly enough, for us, we have also become a niche supplier of engine components, fuel tanks and bodywork for the carbureted Ducati 900 Supersports and their derivatives. In addition we continue to have success sourcing and then offering some unique OEM Ducati 888 & Ducati 851 Superbikes bits such as OEM fuel tanks. Ducati has historically been very successful in offering a "smaller sibling" of their Superbike that combines the styling with the handling and performance of the Superbike in the form of the less expensive Ducati Supersports that created a following of its own. As a result, we embrace that passion for both Superbikes and Supersports. For example, I do have one very early 1991 Ducati 900 ss fuel tank with the black on white decals currently in stock. We also have refurbished full fairings with red & white livery for the late 1980's Ducati 900 ss & the red and blue livery of that era's Ducati 750 Sport. We also continue to stock the red and yellow OEM bodywork and other components for the 1991 through 1998 Ducati Supersports as well. We enjoy helping the owners of these light weight, carbureted Supersport's to remain vital on the road and on the track. Also of note is that numerous customers have ordered and report that they appreciate the quality of our Ducati Supersport mono-posta or Superlight seat that can be used for race or street applications.

We have also had fun working on restorations and painting of the bodywork for some old Norton Commando's, Atlas, Dommi's and Manx's in addition to two Triumph 750 Bonnevilles. We also have our Norton Commando 920 cc JPN racer project that we finally need to complete. Once complete, we will be starting a restoration project of a Dunstall Norton Commando with an engine build with some new, specialty and very "trick" engine components that will be on offer shortly. Stay tuned!! In addition to our quality aluminum fuel tanks that are made in the UK for the Norton Commando & Manx motorcycles, we also have on offer numerous OEM Norton Commando fuel tanks, side covers, seat bases and seats in our inventory. Do watch for listings of more OEM items that will be listed shortly. Our aluminum fuel tanks are made exclusively for us in the UK by craftsmen who use an English wheel and then gas weld and anneal all over to prevent cracking to achieve if not exceed race quality standards for these fuel tanks. We guarantee proper fitment for your Norton Manx or Norton Commando twin. For those items that take paint, we offer painting services and will match those items to your British racer or street machine through our Britiron Classics operation. Let us know how we can help you with your restoration or race build.

We are also having great fun working on Norton Manx and Norton Commando & Dominator twin cylinder racers which is where I initially "cut my teeth" participating in period racing such as BOTT. In addition to our product portfolio for Ducati TT and other Ducati racers, we are also excited to support enthusiasts for Norton Manx and Norton Twin racers through Molnar Manx and BritIron Classics. Check out our Norvil fairings & windscreen offerings. Please review the numerous newly manufactured TT, Ducati F1 and Norton Commando items such as our aluminum fuel tanks, for example, and listed on my Italianiron.com website. British marques are listed on the BritIron or Molnar Manx section of the website. As a result of our offerings, it is our hope to help you to become immersed in the history, the passion and the early racing technology of these amazing machines. Let us "Fuel Your Race Passions" to keep the sport of Vintage Motorcycle Racing alive and well!
