Sep 30th 2024

At Italianiron & BritIron Classics, let us "Fuel Your Race Passions" is not just a slogan but a commitment, whether you are building a vintage Ducati TT or Pantah racer for competition, a Ducati F1 vintage street bike or restoring a Norton Commando or Manx racer. We continue to offer a comprehensive, specialty portfolio of Ducati TT, Pantah, F1 as well as Molnar Manx and Norton Commando engine, chassis and bodywork kits to all of our customers worldwide. We continue to help restorers and racers with providing them with top quality racing spares and offering painting services when required due to our restoration expertise and build results. At Italianiron.com we have historically maintained a good inventory of Ducati Bevel Drive engine components for "square case" engines and we will continue to get many more tubs of bits not listed yet, to be listed on the website. However, do peruse our Italianiron.com website and view the numerous refurbished engine components for these venerated, legendary engines such as engine cases, barrels, heads, transmission gears, bevel gears and engine covers, etc. We are also proud to be factory dealers for Marvic magnesium wheels and SmartCarb flat slide carburetors. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL BE UNABLE TO SHIP NEW ORDERS UNTIL 18 OCT 24 DUE TO TRAVELING.

Also of note are our OEM and newly manufactured Ducati Pantah racing spares. Shown above is our Ducati Pantah 750 cc racer with our titanium 2:1 exhaust system and with power plant that started life as a Paso 750 cc engine. Using our newly manufactured 750 cc rear Ducati Pantah rear head, we have made this engine eligible for more vintage racing classes internationally such as Formula 750 and other BOTT classes. As always, do confirm the rules with your local racing association. Our replica Ducati Pantah rear cylinder head is manufactured for the belt driven, air cooled, 2 valve Ducati Pantah`s and bikes using the "small block" Pantah style engine up to 900cc. CMM equipment is used to measure an original cylinder head, and using this metrology report, a CAD model is created. This allows us to create a highly accurate, CNC machined pattern-work.The Ducati Pantah rear cylinder head is cast in L169 aluminum alloy, before being milled on our state of the art 5 axis CNC machines. Inlet & exhaust ports have been designed using cutting edge Computational Fluid Dynamics software by our engineers and are machined on the CNC to give optimum performance, maximum flow and consistency across all of our cylinder heads from 500 cc, 750 cc to 800 cc currently. Then our Pantah rear head is fitted with "lead free" valve seats and Colsibro valve guides. Do know that a second spark plug insert hole is available to be machined at an additional fee and that we also offer 1 piece forged valves as well.

Shown above is our newly manufactured Heavy Duty Norton Commando engine cases. In following the original Norton factory blue prints, these heavy duty cases are the best that the factory could of imagined! We use aerospace grade aluminum that improves the metallurgy and strength of the engine cases and our engineers have improved and strengthened weak areas that were historically prone to cracking and breaking. We starting with a set of MK2 850 Commando Crankcases and then we created our own patterns to strengthen those areas where we knew they are prone to breaking but in the casting! We focused primarily at the top side of the timing case cavity and the upper areas of the drive side that have been historically the weak points of these cases. The casting is fully heat treated LM25TF and then machined on our state of the art 5 axis machines to give a product of a quality that has not previously been available. We make a standard Norton Commando 750/850 specification engine cases. However, we also produce 1,000 cc and 920 cc engine cases where the bores and main bearings have been moved further apart to accommodate the bigger bores. All variants can be supplied for " Road" spec which allows the usage of the standard alloy chain case, or "Race" spec where the drive side outer is left with 12mm more material on it, for maximum strength. Do note that these engine cases can only be used with a belt drive primary kit & the outer cover. We produce our cases to MK2 spec & they do not suit MK3 crankshafts. However, we do make our HD engine cases with the drive side oil seal retained by circlip 06.5245 (not included) as on Mk3's.

In an effort to continue to support the Sport of Vintage Motorcycle Racing worldwide, it only follows that work continues now in making all components for the Norton twin cylinder engines to include our steel engine cranks and our aluminum barrels from 650 cc to 1000 cc. The Norton Commando 920 cc barrel like shown above on our JPN build. Cast in fully heat treated L169 aerospace spec aluminum alloy, our Norton twin cylinder barrels have deeper, thinner fins than any others on the market, which makes them harder to cast but achieves superior cooling and a barrel that is visually closer to the original iron barrels. They save around 11 lbs or 5kg in weight! All variants, including the Norton Commando 750 cc models are of the 'through bolt' design, where the bottom fin joins directly to the cylinder flange, similar to original Norton Commando 850 cc barrels. We use different, coarser thread head bolts to optimize mounting to the alloy barrels. Therefore, you will need to order a set of our head bolts too. Our through bolts are standard Norton Commando 850 items, though the new 920 cc & 1,000 cc variants use modified items. Shortly, Norton Commando 850 & Commando 750 engine heads like shown below will be made available. More information to follow shortly on this new initiative.

We are also having great fun working on Norton Manx and Norton Commando & Dominator twin cylinder racers which is where I initially "cut my teeth" participating in period racing such as BOTT. In addition to our product portfolio for Ducati TT and other Ducati racers, we are also excited to support enthusiasts for Norton Manx and Norton Twin racers through Molnar Manx and BritIron Classics. Check out our Norvil fairings & windscreen offerings. Please review the numerous newly manufactured TT, Ducati F1 and Norton Commando items such as our aluminum fuel tanks, for example, and listed on my Italianiron.com website. British marques are listed on the BritIron or Molnar Manx section of the website. As a result of our offerings, it is our hope to help you to become immersed in the history, the passion and the early racing technology of these amazing machines. Let us "Fuel Your Race Passions" to keep the sport of Vintage Motorcycle Racing alive and well!!
